DrayTech Driver — Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026 · Effective: May 22, 2026
DrayTech is a software platform for drayage trucking companies. The DrayTech Driver mobile app is provided to drivers working for drayage carriers ("Carriers") that license DrayTech. This Privacy Policy describes how DrayTech handles information collected through the app.
You are not a customer of DrayTech directly — your Carrier (your employer or contracting motor carrier) issues you a DrayTech Driver account. DrayTech acts as a service provider to your Carrier.
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to drivers who have been issued a DrayTech Driver account by a participating Carrier. You must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid US commercial driver's license (CDL) to use the app. The app is not intended for children or the general public.
2. Information we collect
- Account info — your phone number (used for one-time login codes) and your name as recorded by your Carrier.
- Precise location — your device's GPS coordinates while you are signed in and on duty. We collect location both while the app is open and in the background, so your Carrier's dispatch can route loads and customers can track delivery ETAs. Background location stops when you sign off duty or sign out.
- Photos and signatures — proof-of-delivery photos, equipment damage photos, maintenance ticket photos, and signatures you capture in the app. Photos are taken with your camera or selected from your photo library only when you tap the camera/upload button.
- Device push token — an opaque identifier issued by Apple or Google so we can send you load assignments, status alerts, and chat messages.
- App usage logs — basic technical logs (last login time, error reports, network errors) used to diagnose problems.
3. How we use the information
- To assign loads, route you, and let your Carrier's dispatch and the Carrier's customers see ETAs while you're on duty.
- To record proof-of-delivery and equipment condition for the customers your Carrier serves.
- To enable your Carrier to process and pay you for completed trips.
- To meet federal recordkeeping requirements (FMCSA, DOT) for commercial motor carriers.
- To send you login codes and operational notifications about your loads.
- To improve the DrayTech platform itself (aggregated, de-identified usage patterns).
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information to anyone. We share data only with the following categories of recipients, and only as needed for the app to function:
- Your Carrier — your employer or contracting motor carrier sees everything you do in the app. They are the data controller for your data.
- Your Carrier's customers — proof-of-delivery photos, signatures, and load status are shared with the customers your Carrier delivers to, as part of normal drayage operations.
- Google (Firebase) — for phone-number sign-in (SMS verification) and crash reporting. Google's privacy practices: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
- Twilio — as a fallback SMS provider for login codes when Firebase is unavailable. Twilio's privacy practices: twilio.com/legal/privacy.
- Samsara — for fleet telematics integration (truck telematics, ELD compliance) when your Carrier uses Samsara. Privacy: samsara.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Regulators and law enforcement — when legally required (subpoena, FMCSA audit, accident investigation, etc.).
We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any party for marketing.
5. How long we keep it
- Trip and load records (including location traces, POD photos, signatures): retained for at least 6 months per 49 CFR §379 and typically longer to meet customer and audit obligations.
- Driver employment / qualification records: retained as long as you drive for the Carrier plus the period required by 49 CFR §391 (typically 3 years after termination).
- Maintenance ticket records: retained per 49 CFR §396 (12 months).
- Login logs: typically 90 days unless tied to a specific incident.
6. Security
Connections to our servers use HTTPS/TLS. Driver login uses one-time codes (SMS or in-app) — there are no driver passwords to steal. Location and photo uploads are transmitted over encrypted channels. Server backups are encrypted at rest. Each Carrier's data is isolated from other Carriers using DrayTech.
7. Your choices and rights
- Location: you can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. The app will not be able to deliver loads to you without location access.
- Camera / photos: optional — used only when you capture proof-of-delivery or maintenance evidence.
- Notifications: you can disable push notifications in your device settings; dispatch will fall back to SMS or phone calls.
- Access, correction, deletion: contact us at the address below to request a copy of your data, correct an error, or delete data that we are not legally required to retain. Because your Carrier is your data controller, deletion requests may also be routed through them. Federal recordkeeping rules limit what can be deleted while you are an active driver.
To request account deletion, see /delete-account.
8. Children
The app is not directed to anyone under 21. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
9. International users
The app is intended for use in the United States. Information is processed and stored in the United States.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Updates will be posted at dray-tech.com/privacy with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced in the app.
